Bio
HIMSHE – The Soundtrack of a Lynchian Dream
Himshe (Ghent) is an indie post-punk band that blends cinematic grandeur with raw emotion. Their music feels like the haunting soundtrack of a lost Hollywood noir—soaked in loneliness, yet offering no comfort. It unsettles and lingers. Synths ripple like echoes through a misty mountain landscape, basslines pulsate hypnotically, and guitars slash through the haze like a slow-motion spy thriller. Frontwomen Mishi Erine and Naomi Sijmons bring a vocal intensity that balances between ethereal beauty and confronting rawness, evoking echoes of Julee Cruise, Siouxsie Sioux, and Portishead.
With their debut EP ‘Stay’, produced by Koen Gisen, Himshe established their cinematic and elusive world. This was followed by ‘Ideals’, a bold cross-pollination with a classical orchestra, hailed by the press as a “dark masterpiece”. Now, the band is working on their first full-length album, produced by Staf Verbeeck.
Beyond the studio, Himshe brings their music to the stage with an intense, layered live show. This culminates in Himshe’s curatorship at the Bruges Cultural Center (April 19, 2025), where they will present a unique evening alongside Hackedepicciotto (Alexander Hacke & Danielle de Picciotto) and TJE, exploring the extremes of music, humanity, and emotion.
For those drawn to the thin line between beauty and discomfort, Himshe offers a sonic dreamscape where love, death, and tenderness collide in a Lynchian reality.
Inspiration: Portishead, Fever Ray, CocoRosie, Soap and Skin, Anna Calvi, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Jesca Hoop, Perfume Genius, Blond Redhead, Mark Lanegan, Michelle Gurevich, Bat For Lashes, Emily Wells, Siouxsie and the banshees, David Lynch.
